Wait On The Lord – Psalm 27:14 – A Necessary but Challenging Lesson

 This is Namma for Christ with the two hundred twelfth inspirational message dated Monday, December 27th, 2021. The title of this message is “Wait On The Lord – Psalm 27:14 – A Necessary but Challenging Lesson”.

The first four words of this message’s title are also the words of the title of the below inspirational song/video, “Wait On The Lord” as performed by “Barbara Ward Farmer & The Wagner Alumni Choir”.  The below passage of scripture (that accompanies this message) is from the fourteenth verse of the Old Testament book of the 27th Psalm:

Psalm 27:14

New King James Version - (NKJV)

14
Wait  on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

The title of this message also includes the words – A Necessary but Challenging Lesson – which is the “title” of the Charles Stanley “In Touch” Daily Devotional for (12/13/21) – which I have included below:

A Necessary but Challenging Lesson

 Psalm 27:7-14

By Charles Stanley

       THERE ARE MANY LESSONS FOR US TO LEARN in the Christian life, and one of the hardest involves patience.  When we have a problem, we want an immediate solution, but that’s not always God’s will for us. He wants us to trust Him and leave the timing in His hands.

As you read today’s passage from Psalm 27, notice that David coupled the admonition to wait upon God with encouragement to be strong and courageous (see Psalm 27:14 above). In our culture, people are quick to act because they’re afraid of missing out on something; it takes courage to go against this trend and be still while the world rushes past. There are even many believers who have bought into that attitude. Instead of waiting for God’s timing, they make a move and ask God to bless it.

Are you asking the Lord for guidance or provision but hear only His silence? Jesus addressed this issue when He said that if we seek first God’s kingdom and righteousness, then whatever we need will be provided (see Matt. 6:33 below).

Matthew 6:33

New King James Version - (NKJV)

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

As you wait, ask the Lord for His peace and patience. Then trust Him to take care of any remaining needs in His perfect time.

Mary, Did You Know? – Phil. 2:6-7 – Christmas Child

This is Namma for Christ with the two hundred eleventh inspirational message dated Saturday, December 25th, 2021. The title of this message is “Mary, Did You Know? – Phil. 2:6-7 – Christmas Child”.

The first four words of this message's title are also the words of the title of the below inspirational song/video, “Mary, Did You Know?” (with lyrics) as performed by Pentatonix.  The below passage of scripture (that accompanies this message) is from the New Testament book of Philippians - the sixth and seventh verses of the second chapter:

Philippians 2:6-7

New Life Version (NLV)

Jesus has always been as God is. But He did not hold to His rights as God. He put aside everything that belonged to Him and made Himself the same as a servant who is owned by someone. He became human by being born as a man.

For many years, I have enjoyed reading the daily inspirational messages as provided by Our Daily Bread Ministries in their publications of "OUR DAILY BREAD".

I recently read the message for the day (for December 25th, 2021) and found it to be so inspiring, memorable and “thought-provoking”.

CHRISTMAS CHILD

He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  - Philippians 2:7

Today's Scripture & Insight:

Philippians 2:6-11

Imagine the One who made cedars spring from seeds starting life over as an embryo; the One who made the stars submitting Himself to a womb; the One who fills the heavens becoming what would be in our day a mere dot on an ultrasound. Jesus, in very nature God, making Himself nothing (Philippians 2:6-7). What an astonishing thought!

Imagine the scene as He’s born in a plain peasant village among shepherds and angels and bright lights in the sky, with the bleating of animals His first lullabies. Watch as He grows in favor and stature: as a youngster, astounding teachers with answers to grand questions; as a young man at the Jordan, getting His Father’s approval from heaven; and in the wilderness, as He wrestles in hunger and prayer.

Watch next as He launches His world-changing mission – healing the sick, touching lepers, forgiving the impure. Watch as He kneels in a garden in anguish and as they arrest Him while His closest friends flee. Watch as He is spat on and nailed to two wooden posts, the world’s sins on His shoulders. But watch, yes watch, as the stone rolls away, an empty tomb ringing hollow, because HE IS ALIVE!

Watch as He is lifted to the highest place (verse Phil. 2:9). Watch as His name fills heaven and earth (verses Phil. 2:10-11).

This Maker of the stars who became a dot on an ultrasound. This, Our Christmas Child.

Philippians 2:9-11 (NKJV):

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

By: Sheridan Voysey for Our Daily Bread

Jesus, thank You for making Yourself nothing so I could be forgiven.

Jesus is the Greatest Gift we have ever received! God loved us so much that He gave us Jesus. See John 3:16 -

John 3:16

New King James Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

It is God – who supplies all that we need – see the below verse:

Romans 8:32

New King James Version (NIV)

32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Be Praised – Mighty Warrior – Judges 6:12

This is Namma for Christ with the two hundred tenth inspirational message dated Monday, December 6th, 2021. The title of this message is “Be Praised – Mighty Warrior – Judges 6:12”.

The first two words of the title are also the two words in the name of the below inspirational song/video, “Be Praised” (with lyrics) as performed by Maverick City – featuring Aaron Moses and Naomi Raine.  The below passage of scripture (that accompanies this message) is from the Old Testament book of Judges - the twelfth verse of the sixth chapter:

Judges 6:12b

New International Version (NIV)

12b "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior."

For many years, I have enjoyed reading the daily inspirational messages as provided by Our Daily Bread Ministries in their publications of "OUR DAILY BREAD".

I recently read the message for the day (for November 26th, 2021) and found it to be so inspiring, memorable and “thought-provoking”.

MIGHTY WARRIOR

12 The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.  - Judges 6:12

Today's Scripture & Insight:

Judges 6:11-16

Diet Eman was an ordinary, shy young woman in the Netherlands – in love, working and enjoying time with family and friends – when the Germans invaded in 1940. As Diet (pronounced Deet) later wrote, “When there is danger on your doorstep, you want to act almost like an ostrich burying its head in the sand.” Yet Diet felt God calling her to resist the German oppressors, which included risking her life to find hiding places for Jews and other pursued people. This unassuming young woman became a warrior for God.

We find many stories in the Bible similar to Diet’s, stories of God using seemingly unlikely characters to serve Him. For instance, when the angel of the Lord approached Gideon, he proclaimed. “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior” (Judges 6:12). Yet Gideon seemed anything but mighty. He’d been secretly threshing wheat away from the prying eyes of the Midianites, who oppressively controlled Israel at the time (verses 1-6, 11). He was from the weakest clan of Israel (Manasseh) and the “least” in his family (v. 15). He didn’t feel up to God’s calling and even requested several signs. Yet God used him to defeat the cruel Midianites (SEE chapter 7).

      God saw Gideon as “mighty”. And just as God was with and equipped Gideon, so God is with us, His “dearly loved children” (see Ephesians 5:1 below) – supplying all we need to live for and serve Him in little and big ways.

Ephesians 5:1

New King James Version (NIV)

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children.

By: Alyson Kieda

Who are some other Bible characters God used despite their weakness to accomplish much for Him? How has God moved you outside your comfort zone to serve Him?

God, I’m so thankful You don’t see me as I see myself. Help me to see myself as Your dearly loved child capable of doing big and small things in service to You.

The Reason – God Is Good – Psalm 100

This is Namma for Christ with the two hundred ninth inspirational message dated Thursday, November 25th, 2021. The title of this message is “The Reason – God Is Good – Psalm 100”.

The first two words of this message’s title are also the title of the below inspirational song/video (with lyrics), “The Reason” as performed by “WILDER”.  The below passage of scripture (that accompanies this message) is from the Old Testament book of the 100th Psalm:

Psalm 100

New King James Version - (NKJV)

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;

His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations

The title of this message also includes the words – God Is Good – which is the “title” of the Charles Stanley “In Touch” Daily Devotional for (11/24/21) – which I have included below:

God Is Good

 Psalm 100

By Charles Stanley

      ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS A CHILD LEARNS in Sunday school is that God is good. But the simplicity of this statement can be a bit misleading. That’s because God’s goodness is multifaceted, and it encompasses many of His characteristics.

 First, the Lord is absolutely perfect and holy, which means that He alone is the standard of all righteousness. God is also unchanging, and therefore His dealings with us are determined by His character; even when we rebel, He is still good to us. As a loving heavenly Father, He responds with discipline – not to crush out spirit but to restore the broken relationship.

We can see the Lord’s goodness in His gifts to us, including every breath we breathe. As our loving Shepherd, He provides for all our needs. But the greatest expression of God’s goodness is the cross of Christ. What appeared cruel and unfair from man’s perspective was the only way to rescue us from a hopeless eternity without God.

God’s goodness is intertwined with each of His attributes, and that’s why it is a pillar of our faith. It grounds us with confidence during difficulties, so when we don’t understand what the Lord is doing, we can still trust that He is good.

The Blessing – The Key to Good Things in Life – Psalm 84:11-12

This is Namma for Christ with the two hundred eighth inspirational message dated Thursday, November 11th, 2021. The title of this message is “The Blessing – The Key to Good Things in Life – Psalm 84:11-12”.

The first two words of this message’s title are also the title of the below inspirational song/video (with lyrics), “The Blessing” as performed by “Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes & Elevation Worship”.  The below passage of scripture (that accompanies this message) is from the Old Testament book of Psalms - the eleventh through the twelfth verses of the eighty-fourth chapter:

Psalm 84:11-12

New King James Version - (NKJV)

11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

12 Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

The title of this message also includes the words – The Key to Good Things in Life – which is the “title” of the Charles Stanley “In Touch” Daily Devotional for (11/5/21) – which I have included below:

The Key to Good Things in Life

 Psalm 84:11-12

By Charles Stanley

      THE TITLE OF TODAY’S DEVOTION sounds like a self-help book that promises fame, wealth, and prestige if you’ll follow 10 easy steps. But God defines life’s good things quite differently, and they’re achieved only by seeking Him. When we make the Lord our top priority, He gives truly good things, such as …

INTIMACY WITH HIM. Those who earnestly seek God and walk uprightly learn to know and love Him deeply. He’s no longer a distant deity but a loving heavenly Father who cares for them.

SATISFACTION. The empty place in every heart can be filled only by the Lord. All earthly pursuits of pleasure or purpose fade in comparison to the fulfillment He gives.

JOY. When seeking the Lord is your highest priority, you will have His joy in every circumstance. Suffering and difficulties won’t feel as devastating because you’ll trust Him and see the situation from a biblical perspective.

      DIVINE HELP. We’re invited to come boldly to God in prayer to receive grace and help in time of need (Heb. 4:16 see below)

Hebrews 4:16

New King James Version - (NKJV)

16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The things of the world are only temporary, but God’s benefits are eternal. Are you seeking heavenly treasure, or have worldly values sidetracked you?

Promises – The Privilege of Knowing God – Phil. 3:7-9

This is Namma for Christ with the two hundred seventh inspirational message dated Wednesday, October 27th, 2021. The title of this message is “Promises – The Privilege of Knowing God – Phil. 3:7-9”.

The first word of this message’s title is also the title of the below inspirational song/video (with lyrics), “Promises” as performed by “Maverick City Music - featuring Joe L. Barnes & Naomi Raine”.  The below passage of scripture (that accompanies this message) is from the New Testament book of Philippians - the seventh through the ninth verses of the third chapter:

Philippians 3:7-9

New King James Version - (NKJV)

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

The title of this message also includes the words – The Privilege of Knowing God – which is the “title” of the Charles Stanley “In Touch” Daily Devotional for (10/21/21) – which I have included below:

The Privilege of Knowing God

 Philippians 3:7-11

By Charles Stanley

       KNOWING ABOUT GOD IS DIFFERENT from knowing God. Anyone can learn a few facts about Him, but a sincere believer invests the time and energy to be His Friend.

One of the ways to learn about the Lord is through His Word. By reading the Bible, believers discover God’s character, principles, and ways of operating. Unfortunately, many men and women stop at this step, but it’s also important to mediate on Scripture, which involves thinking about God’s words and allowing the Holy Spirit to interpret them. This practice further deepens the believer’s knowledge. Finally, we apply what we learn, which is when we truly get to know God.

      For example, suppose you read in Psalm 46:1 that God is a very present help in times of trouble, and when trouble shows up, you rely on Him for aid. When He answers – and He will, although not always in the expected way – you learn something: God responds to your trust and dependence with a perfect solution to your problem.

      I frequently admonish believers to read the Bible, but I don’t mean skim its pages for fact. Scripture is a living document, and when you do what it says, you discover God is not some ancient, dictating deity but a vibrant Friend Who wants to connect with you.

Find My Peace – My Testimony – Heb. 13:5

 This is Namma for Christ with the two hundred sixth inspirational message dated Monday, October 25th, 2021. The title of this message is “Find My Peace – My Testimony – Heb. 13:5”.

The first three words of the title are also the words in the name of the below inspirational song/video, “Find My Peace” (with lyrics) as performed by Christian/Gospel artist Naomi Raine.  The below passage of scripture (that accompanies this message) is from the New Testament book of Hebrews - the fifth verse of the thirteenth chapter:

Hebrews 13:5

New King James Version (NKJV)

5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you."

During the early morning of Sunday, October 24th, 2021 – I woke up around 3:30am and could not go back to sleep. I felt compelled to write - I believed that I was meant to use this time "for good"....

I had remembered that during the evening before - (on Saturday, October 23rd) I had stumbled upon a “new” YouTube song (while listening on my cell phone). The new song was “Find My Peace” by Maverick City Music’s artist and soloist, “Naomi Raine”. I “remembered” that I had not listened to the “entire song”- so, at that time – (since I couldn’t sleep, anyway) – I decided to “listen” to the entire song. Upon hearing the “full” length of the song – I “knew” that I wanted to include it in my next “Namma for Christ” message. I then prayed and asked the Lord what should I “writeas “my next message”.

The below message is the result:

ALWAYS REMEMBER – JESUS LOVES YOU & HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU!

(See the below scripture in Hebrews 13:5b):

Hebrews 13:5b

For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

ALSO, REMEMBER –

 JESUS IS THE SAME, YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER!

(see the below verse):

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The above scriptures have helped me so much throughout my life (during my struggles, challenges, through losses of loved ones) and through so many trials and tribulations…I have turned to the Lord and have been comforted by Him through His Word.

Even during times, that I lost my way…JESUS “never” left me alone.

Just knowing that “JESUS WILL NEVER LEAVE ME, NOR FORSAKE ME” has helped “stabilize” me – no matter what I was going through!

I love Jesus!

He has been my “anchor”, my “ROCK” – my LORD …the One I can always turn to – before, during, (and after) the “storms in my life”!

Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that Jesus IS THE SAME – no matter what situations, circumstances, “or people” – “change” in our lives! JESUS does NOT CHANGE!

We can rely on, depend on and TRUST IN our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:

Proverbs 3:5-6

5    Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

6    In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.

No matter WHAT we may go through – We, as His children - CAN ALWAYS PRAY TO OUR LORD and CAST ALL OUR CARE ON THE LORD!

1st Peter 5:7

New King James Version (NKJV)

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”

ALWAYS REMEMBER – as believers in Jesus Christ – we can PRAY TO OUR LORD ABOUT “EVERYTHING” – (as we also give thanks to our LORD)!

The below scripture reminds us:

Philippians 4:6-7

6    Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

To God be the Glory!

Look What You’ve Done – God’s Plans For You – Psalm 37:4

This is Namma for Christ with the two hundred fifth inspirational message dated Sunday, October 17th, 2021. The title of this message is “Look What You’ve Done – God’s Plans For You – Psalm 37:4”.

The first four words of the title are also the name of the below inspirational song/video, “Look What You’ve Done” (with lyrics) as sung by the Christian artist – “Tasha Layton”.  The below passage of scripture (that accompanies this message) is from the Old Testament book of Psalms - the fourth verse of the thirty-seventh chapter:

Psalm 37:4

New International Version (NIV)

Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

For many years, I have enjoyed reading the daily inspirational messages as provided by Our Daily Bread Ministries in their publications of "OUR DAILY BREAD".

I recently read the message for the day (for October 15th, 2021) and found it to be so inspiring, memorable and “thought-provoking”.

GOD'S PLANS FOR YOU

Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.            Psalm 37:4

Today's Scripture & Insight:

Psalm 37:3-7

For six years, Agnes tried to make herself the “perfect minister’s wife,” modeling herself after her adored mother-in-law (also a pastor’s wife). She thought that in this role she couldn’t also be a writer and painter, but in burying her creativity she became depressed and contemplated suicide. Only the help of a neighboring pastor moved her out of the darkness as he prayed with her and assigned her two hours of writing each morning. This awakened her to what she called her “sealed orders” – the calling God had given her. She wrote, “For me to be really myself – my complete self – every…flow of creativity that God had given me had to find its channel.”

      Later, she pointed to one of David’s songs that expressed how she found her calling: “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). As she committed her way to God, trusting Him to lead and guide her, He made a way for her not only to write and paint but to help others to better communicate with Him.

  (see Psalm 37:5 below)

Psalm 37:5

New King James Version (NKJV)

Commit your way to the Lord; Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

      God has a set of “sealed orders” for each of us, not only that we’ll know we’re His beloved children but understand the unique ways we can serve Him through our gifts and passions. He’ll lead us as we trust and delight in Him.

By: Amy Boucher Pye

How does Agnes’ story of living someone else’s life resonate with you? What has God put in your “sealed orders”?

Creator God, You’ve made me in Your image. Help me to know and embrace my calling that I might better love and serve You.
